The Philly Sound is back! Earl Young & Darryl Grant -The Power Of Love - Out Now On DSG

Earl Young & Darryl Grant - The Power Of Love -Part One Nigel Lowis mix along with Part 2 Connoisseurs remixes are now released and are climbing the UK Soul & download charts( #2 in Amazon).

Lovers of 70s soul music certainly remember Earl Young, founder of The Trammps and the drummer credited by many as the creator of the disco beat. And we were all fans of Spectrum/ Fat Larry's Band  singer Darryl Grant.

Well, these two legends have come together for a new song with an old school groove. With songwriters/producers McKinley Jackson and Mervin and Melvin Steals behind it, the duo have created a terrific new cut called “Don’t Underestimate The Power of Love.” What’s more, they’ve been helped by an A-List band, featuring bassist Jimmie Williams, pianist Alfie Pollitt, guitarist Robert “Wawa” Legrand, percussionist, Pablo Batista, drummer Lawrence Bowens, guitarist Randy Lynch, and McKinley Jackson’s fabulous Detroit Horn Section.

Salsoul meets the Sound Of  Philadelphia in this SalPhilly remix created by Nigel Lowis.

From the composer of, Could It Be I'm Falling In Love (Spinners)
It's not only HOT, but also pleasing to the ear and very tastefully done!!! If my dear friend Norman Harris were still alive, I'm sure that he would be extremely proud to hear how well Nigel Lowis has captured the "purity" and "essence" of the powerful sound that Norman, Ronnie Baker, and Earl Young created on the floor of the city of Philadelphia's Sigma Sound's Studio A back in the 1970's.Melvin Steal composer of the song......

A Disco Inferno! The return of The Trammps after 35 years!

Fueled by the drum work of Earl Young and the vocals of the late Jimmy Ellis, The Trammps were among the first great disco groups.
The Trammps first hit our turntables in 1972 with their cover with,"Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart" and "Sixty Minute Man" frome their debut Legendary Zing album. They are best known for their Grammy winning song, "Disco Inferno," which was originally released in 1976, but went on to become a worldwide smash hit when it was included on the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever. They had a big top 5 single in the UK with "Hold Back The Night" in 1976, and followed with such hits as "That's Where the Happy People Go," "Hooked For Life," "The Night The Lights Went Out," "Stop and Think."

Now, after years away from the studio, group co-founder Earl You has issued a new single with his current version of the group, Earl Young's Trammps. As were the group's biggest hits, this new song was recorded live in Philadelphia. Earl Young stated on his Facebook page, "we are jamm'in. great philly musicians...you play live or go home!! 'that's how we do it in philly."
The song was written by, The Steals Brothers, who have penned great classics like "Could It Be I'm Falling In Love" for the Spinners, "Honeybee" for Gloria Gaynor, along with many others
